On July 4, in the 16th game between Farm regular season and Orix Buffaloes Hiroshima held at Kimiidera Park ball park in Wakayama, Orix Buffaloes narrowly lost 2-3. The game was called out by rain.

In the first inning, Orix Buffaloes took the lead with two outs and a runner on second after Sho Gibo hit, and Yutaro Sugimoto hit a timely hit. Starting pitcher Naruki Teranishi pitcher caused two consecutive inning of trouble in the first inning but closed the crucial moments without runs. In the top of the third, Reiji Higashiyama pitcher and in the top of the fourth, Seiryu Kotajima pitcher scored 0s.

However, in the top of the 5th, the fourth pitcher Hiroto Suga pitcher gave up his 3rd homer and three-run homer to Kota Hayashi, allowing the lead to be reversed. Even so, in the top of the 6th, which was a crossover inning, he retired all three batters, including two consecutive struck out. From the 7th onward, Taisuke Yamaoka pitcher pitched 26 pitches in 2 innings, hit no walks, Hit by Pitch 2, 2 strike out no runs to keep the game going.

The lineup entered the bottom of the eighth with a 1-3 lead, and with one out, Ryoma Ikeda hit his fourth solo homer, closing the gap to one run. Orix Buffaloes wanted to keep the momentum going, but by the end of the eighth, rain had intensified and the game was temporarily suspended. The game went into a rain-ruled game with the score tied 2-3.

After the loss, Orix Buffaloes hit a total of 9 hit, reaching base every inning through the 8th inning, but lacked connection and managed only 2 runs. Sugimoto recorded 2 hit 1 RBI. This marked his second consecutive hit since joining the farm team.
