On September 26, a retirement ceremony was held for Masahiro Nishino Kyocera Dome Osaka and Nobuyoshi Yamada pitcher. pitcher Yamada came in as the second pitcher in the top of the ninth. He challenged Yuya Gunji player with fastball pitches and hit a center fielder fly ball.
After the game, there was a final home game ceremony, where manager Mamoru Kishida gave a greeting. Next, pitcher Yamada stood in front of the microphone stand. Below is the full text of the greeting.
"Thank you for preparing this kind of occasion just for me today.
I'm really not good at speaking in places like this, and unlike Mr. Hirano yesterday, I can't speak well, so I'll be looking at the paper, but I want to express my gratitude in my own words.
First, to the manager, coaches, trainers, and team staff. Thank you so much for your long-standing support, through good times and bad. Thanks to everyone, I was able to keep baseball up to this point.
And to all the fans. When heading to mound and in times of crisis, the fans' cheers gave me a lot of strength. No matter the situation, thanks to your warm support, I was able to keep going. Thank you very much.
And then, to my parents. I started baseball in first grade, and they made me lunch early in the morning, helped drive me to and from other places, and in junior high, they often took me to games outside the prefecture, so I think I went through a lot of hardship. I don't know if I became a pro baseball player and was able to be a filial piety to my parents, but it was thanks to my parents that I was able to become a pro baseball player, which had been my dream since I was little. Thank you so much.
And then, to my family. I think I endured a lot of baseball and worried a lot in my life. Still, I was closest to support without complaint. I was able to focus on baseball thanks to my family. Thank you so much.
Lastly, thanks to everyone who has been involved with me so far, I was able to continue baseball this far. It was truly a happy baseball life. Thank you for 17 years."
Speaking to his family, pitcher Yamada choked up his voice but expressed his gratitude. After fielder’s choice Nishi greeted him, a Yutaro Sugimoto player from the same year presented bouquets to pitcher Yamada, to fielder’s choice Nishi from Yuya Oda, a development coach who joined the team in the same year, and Fukuya Yamazaki pitcher, a former teammate currently playing for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham.
After the commemorative photo, a tossing ceremony was held, and pitcher Yamada flew through the air five times. Finally, he circled the stadium with his teammates, responding to the cheers of the fans.
