On September 14th, Ginji and Yuji Kaneko appeared on the Persol Pacific League TV official YouTube channel's "Monday is also Pa-Tele Time" with Takayuki Kajitani as a guest, and discussed Koki Yamaguchi's excellent form.

In the game against the Rakuten Eagles on September 8th, in the bottom of the 9th inning immediately after the score was tied, with a chance at 1st and 2nd base and one out, Koki Yamaguchi caught a low outside fastball from pitcher Naoto Nishiguchi and decided the game with his third walk-off hit of the season. This season, his batting average with runners in scoring position has exceeded .300 every month since May, and in August, he hit his 26th home run, breaking the club record for a Japanese player since the stadium relocation, continuing to produce constant results.

Regarding this performance, Kaneko said, "He's producing home runs in volume, and he's been amazing this year. Doesn't he have a huge number of walk-offs?" His third walk-off hit of the season is a tied club record. Ginji also widened his eyes at the change, saying, "I wonder if it's possible to suddenly become able to hit home runs like this."

"He originally had great power, and I had the image that it was just a matter of consistency," as Kaneko said, Koki Yamaguchi hit 16 Home Runs in his fourth year in 2022, but was unable to increase those numbers thereafter. His batting average also remained in the low .200s, leaving issues with consistency, but this season he is batting .278 so far, showing results in areas other than home runs as well.

Perhaps due to the influence of apprenticing under Kazuma Okamoto, who was with The Giants at the time during the 2023 off-season, Kajitani said his batting style and other aspects "look more like Kazuma Okamoto day by day." The Japanese cannon the team has been waiting for is finally reaching the moment of awakening.
