On Saturday, September 5th, at Rakuten Eagles Mobile Saikyo Park Miyagi, New Japan Pro-Wrestling President Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared at the ceremonial pitch for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles vs. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters match. The appearance of a legendary figure representing the pro wrestling world, who left the ring with a regret this year, was met with warm applause and loud cheers from the stands.

Tanahashi wore the number 100 jersey, named after his playing days as a 'once-in-a-century talent.' He declared, 'My motto is all out, so I'll give it my all pitch,' and delivered a powerful pitch to the mitt without bounce. The stands erupted in another round of applause, and the mound gave the game the best momentum.

<Hiroshi Tanahashi's Comment>
"I think it was almost a strike. This was my fourth time doing a ceremonial first pitch or ceremonial pitch at a Rakuten Eagles game, but I think this is the first time I've thrown a strike since the very first time I did it. When I was active, my muscles got in the way and I couldn't swing my arm properly, so it went better after retiring (laughs).
I also thought the stadium, which evolves little by little every time I visit, is wonderful.
I would be happy if my ceremonial pitch today helps Rakuten Eagles fans become interested in professional wrestling!"
