◇Saitama Seibu Lions' Ryosuke Moriwaki returns to the main roster.

The Saitama Seibu Lions have announced that they have signed a professional contract with pitcher Ryosuke Moriwaki. pitcher joined the Saitama Seibu Lions in 2018 as the sixth pick in the draft. He pitched in a total of 195 games over five seasons as reliever, but in 2023 he suffered a right brachial artery occlusion and underwent surgery. Since 2024 he had been rehabilitating and adjusting as a developmental player. number will return to "28," which he previously wore.

"Of course I was happy when I heard about the contract, but the strongest feeling was, 'It's finally here,' and rather than thinking about the past, I pictured myself standing on mound in the first team and pitching. Since returning from rehabilitation, I've felt like I've been able to identify and correct my weaknesses with each appearance, and I've been growing step by step. I think that accumulation of effort has led me to where I am today. This year, instead of setting a goal of 'this far,' I've been working with the intention of continuously pushing my own limits. I want to continue growing, always aiming to exceed 100%."

▼Comment from Hiroshi Hiroike, Director and General Manager of the Baseball Team▼
"After being diagnosed with right brachial artery occlusion in July 2023 and undergoing surgery the following month, he has spent approximately three long years undergoing rehabilitation and making appearances in the minor leagues. His name has come up many times before, but finally, the time has come. He has put up good numbers in the minor leagues this year, and above all, pitcher Moriwaki possesses the strength to overcome a crisis in his playing career and the experience he has gained in the major leagues. We hope that he will become a great asset to the major league relief pitching staff and live up to the expectations of the fans who have believed in his comeback and waited patiently, and of all those who have supported him so far."
