▼Comment from Mieharu▼
"Two years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 hypopharyngeal cancer, but thanks to recent advances in cancer treatment and the support and encouragement I've received from so many people, I'm now healthy and able to live a normal life. I decided to participate in this event because I wanted to show everyone how I'm doing now."
Even with advancements in treatment methods, it's still best to detect and treat cancer as early as possible. The head and neck are areas that can be examined relatively easily at ENT clinics and other medical facilities. We hope this will encourage you to take an interest in this area and get screened.
The year Rakuten Eagles were founded, I also started a program here in Sendai that was aimed at the six prefectures of Tohoku. Because of that connection, I came to the stadium many times and cheered for The Eagles from the stands. I feel so happy to be able to throw the first pitch on mound I used to watch, and I will do my best!
