With one out, Tamiya stepped up to the plate for his first at-bat, and on the fourth pitch of the at-bat, with a 1-2 count, he connected with a high outside fastball from opposing pitcher Jackson. The ball sailed over second baseman 's head, allowing Manami to score, giving his team a crucial first run.

Tamiya is currently on a two-game hitting streak, with two hit in each of the two games played so far. He has maintained his good form throughout May, with a monthly batting average of .318 (as of the start of the game).
