Reyes of Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters hit a go-ahead two-run doble.

Reyes started the game as the cleanup hitter and DH. In the top of the 3rd inning, with his team trailing by one run and runners on first and third with two outs, he stepped up to the plate for his second at-bat. On the fifth pitch of the at-bat, with a 3-1 count, he connected with an inside breaking ball thrown by Orix Buffaloes pitcher Riku Miyaguni who was making his professional debut as a starter. The ball broke through left-center field, and both runner scored. This gave his team the lead immediately after starting pitcher Kota Tatsu had given up the first run.

Reyes was leading the league with a .308 batting average before the game, demonstrating his excellent form.
